Officials in Cape Town have said how pleased they are at its being voted Best World City in a recent poll.
The city’s tourism chief executive Mariette du-Toit said this could be due to its wide array of attractions and the fact that people’s pounds may go further in South Africa.
“We are thrilled with the news. Cape Town has so much to offer that visitors generally end up coming back to see and do more,” she commented.
Cape Town is perhaps best known for Table Mountain, as well as its great wines.
Holidays to South Africa could represent good value for Britons when compared to holidays in Europe, as the rand is currently strong against the pound while the euro has dropped to its lowest ever rates.
