Sebastian Vettel was fastest in the morning practice at Buddh.

The flights to Delhi are done, the tyres heated and the drivers are already out on track at the Indian grand prix.

In the opening practice session of the Formula One weekend at the Buddh International Circuit, Sebastian Vettel continued his supreme form of late, as he was three-tenths of a second faster than McLaren’s Jenson Button.

Crucially for the Red Bull driver, who is chasing his third consecutive World Championship, title rival Fernando Alonso was only third quickest in the morning session.

Vettel has a six-point lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship and a win in India would put him in a commanding position with three races to go this year.

Lewis Hamilton, in one of his last races for McLaren, was fourth on the time sheets, while Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber completed the top five.

The grand prix will take place on Sunday (October 28th) after tomorrow’s qualifying session.
