Goa is hoping to attract tourists into booking tickets on flights bound to India by promoting adventure tourism in the state. Activities like hand gliding and hot air ballooning will have be promoted.
India’s premier beach destination, Goa is hoping to expand its tourist-centric horizons in a bid to attract foreign tourists to grab flights tickets to the state of Goa. The authorities here are looking to promote adventure tours in the smallest state of India.
“Adventure tourism is an emerging trend across the country. We are trying it to diversify our tourism portfolio,” state’s tourism ministry said.
The state has turned to sports like hang-gliding, white water rafting and hot air ballooning to tempt tourists to grab tickets on India bound flights.
Few months back, the tourism authorities here launched a white water rafting programme in Sattari, a remote area in the Western Ghats, about 60 km from Panaji. The initiative has been witnessing a good response and is making many tourists, who are taking flights tickets for the destination, to consider the adventure.
Buoyed by the success of the programme, state authorities are encouraged to mull over new projects that would attract more adventurers to grab flights tickets.
“We are now considering other adventure sports as well, such as hot air ballooning and setting up a hang-glider base,” the ministry was quoted in one of country’s leading English dailies.
Travellers landing in Goa after purchasing air tickets for flights bound to India could opt for a hot air balloon ride and catch bird’s eye view of the wonderful Panaji, the remarkable architecture of the place and the region’s popular beaches.
Goa remains India’s most potent beguiler, attracting millions of tourists to book cheap flights tickets for the destination, every year.
