A new ferry route will be opening in Dubai to meet demand.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced that due to the success of its existing ferry service it will be adding new routes from October.
Since January, the luxury boat trips have seen a 55 per cent increase in passenger numbers and the Authority believes there is sufficient demand for a second Port Rashid to Al Ghubaiba station in Bur Dubai ferry.
Not only are the boats popular with those who want a tour of the emirates iconic water front, the 32-metre-long vessels can also be hired.
The 100-seat capacity ship is transformed into a floating palace which has enough space for 14 gold class seats.
They can travel at a maximum speed of 24 knots per hour and – as with everything in Dubai – come equipped with great facilities, such as onboard restrooms, souvenir and snacks kiosks. Entertainment is provided by four LCD television screens.
