Developers have announced that a new luxury resort is to be built on a man-made island just off the coast of Dubai.

The World Island Resort on the island of Siberia will be started at the end of this year, with completion expected in approximately 2010, people going on holidays to Dubai may be interested to hear.

Comprising 53 villas and water homes, as well as speciality restaurants, art galleries, auction rooms, conference facilities and libraries, it is thought that the resort will cost $350 million (£125 million).

Saeed Ahmed Saeed, chief executive of Limitless, which is carrying out the development, said: “World Island Resort will set a new global benchmark in the design and operation of luxury resorts.

“It is the flagship for Limitless’ waterfront hospitality developments.”

In related news, the new Atlantis resort on The Palm, Dubai, will open tomorrow (September 23rd), complete with over 1,000 rooms and one of the world’s largest aquariums.
