Dubai Duty Free has agreed a new deal that will include the opening of a new luxury resort close to the state’s airport.

The Jumeirah Group is involved in the agreement to manage the new hotel at The Aviation Club – a key site overlooking Dubai Creek Golf Yacht Club, according to the Moodie Report.

It is expected that the new hotel will open in 2011 and will offer guests a total of 239 rooms as well as two restaurants, two bars and a spa and health club.

Dubai Duty Free managing director, Colm McLoughlin, said: “We are delighted to sign the management agreement with Jumeirah Group, who have a great deal of experience in operating some of the most iconic hotels in Dubai and have expanded considerably in recent years.”

He added that he was confident that the new hotel would prove popular and attract bother international and local custom.

Dubai Duty Free is the world’s largest airport retailer and last year reported a turnover of $1.27 billion.
