A key industry event has praised the services provided by Dubai-based Emirates.

The Globe Travel Awards, organised by industry publication Travel Weekly, were hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr in London.

Emirates was voted the leading long-haul carrier, while British Airways and easyJet both received the short-haul award.

Clive Jacobs, chairman of Travel Weekly’s parent company TWgroup, said: “This was the most spectacular Globes ever, with a show befitting the biggest night in the travel calendar.

“After a challenging year for all of us in travel, it was even more important to honour the very best of our great industry.”

Emirates offers flights to Dubai from London Heathrow using its Airbus A380 plane which is fitted with an advanced in-flight entertainment service with over 1,200 channels.

Those travelling in economy class also benefit from adjustable head rests, wider seating and a special reclining feature which aims to offer a more relaxing trip.
