New figures reveal continued growth in the Middle East air service sector.According to aviation intelligence company OAG, there has been an 11 per cent rise in air service growth to the Middle East.

In particular, seat capacity at Dubai International Airport has risen by 14 per cent this month, compared to September levels in 2009.

Total seat capacity in the region has been boosted to 11.65 million – up from 10.5 million at the same point last year.

Peter von Moltke, chief executive officer, UBM Aviation, explained: “Much of the growth in the Middle East is spurred by increased flights in the region to a number of Asian and European destinations.”

He added government support of Dubai International Airport has also helped to boost the region’s overall international profile. This may have also caused an increase in the number of people looking for cheap flights to Dubai.

Dubai’s main airport has over 200 check-in desks with flight information provided in numerous languages.
