Just £104 for a night for two in Bangkok
The Thai capital, Bangkok, has come out in third place on a new index comparing the relative cost of a night’s stay and entertainment in a host of major cities around the world.
Trip Advisor’s TripIndex: Summer 2012 compared the total cost of a four-star room for two, a round-trip taxi ride, five-star cocktails for two and a meal for two with two courses and a bottle of wine.
“It’s important to have an understanding of the day-to-day destination expenses,” said Brooke Ferencsik, director of communications for TripAdvisor.
“TripIndex is a useful resource to help travellers see how far their [money] will go, make budget-appropriate trip choices and offer inspiration for those considering a city trip this summer.”
Bangkok came out with a total of $161.90 (around £104), faring particularly well for accommodation, taxis and cocktails – with the ‘City of Angels’ beating the winner Hanoi in Vietnam across all three categories.
