Travellers headed to faraway destinations on their travels this year, such as for a holiday in Australia, are being urged to ensure they are fully prepared when it comes to travelling with children.
According to Aviva, holidays in Australia were the third-most popular destination for emergency medical claims to be made for children aged under ten last year.
“Everyday accidents or common illnesses can happen just as easily on holiday as at home so it’s really important that families remember to take out adequate travel insurance,” said Julie Fromant, travel product manager from the company.
She added that during the pre-holiday build-up it is easy to get excited and forget about the important aspects of travelling.
The company recommended taking a first-aid kit on the trip, including insect bite cream, paracetamol, antiseptic wipes and any medication that the child may need such as allergy relief tablets.
Visitors to Darwin on their Australian holiday this July may wish to head to Mindil Beach. The Darwin Lions Regatta will see vessels made entirely from beer cans take to the waters as well as other strange events such as a flip flop throwing competition.
