Contacting family from a holiday in Australia or a trip to India could be cheaper with an international SIM, one industry spokesperson has said.
Business travellers flying to India or people taking a family holiday in Australia may be able to save themselves money by investing in an international SIM card.
This is according to Tom Newton, a spokesperson for mobile comparison website Recombu.com, who said that for a one-off fee people could save on their calling charges.
“As well as getting travel insurance, sun cream and tea bags sorted and packed before you head off, a good idea would be to invest in an international SIM card,” he explained.
This way, people could phone family and friends back home for a low cost as well as receive calls and listen to voicemails.
Recent research from uSwitch.com revealed that many people could face charges on their mobile bill, just from switching it on overseas.
According to the company, many people do not intend to use their phones, but keep them switched on anyway or check for messages.
