The Track Cycling World Championships have begun in Melbourne.
The Track Cycling World Championship have started in Melbourne and have already seen a day of thrilling action.
Taking place at the Hisense Arena, the event will see some of the cyclists who are planning to compete in the forthcoming London Olympics competing to get a place on the podium.
Running through to April 8th, the races will see 350 of the world’s best cyclists travelling from 40 countries around the world.
The weekend will see a number of races taking place for both male and female riders in the individual and team events.
Races will take place for both sprint and long distance riders, giving spectators the chance to see both the best speed riders and those with the greatest endurance.
The first day of the race has already seen records being broken, with the Great British team picking up a gold medal for the men’s team pursuit race and setting a new record time for the race in the process.
