Sydney has been named as the favourite city of British tourists at the Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers Choice Awards.
Many have long suspected that Sydney was a favourite destination for those people in the northern hemisphere who want to experience a bit of winter sun.
But now a prestigious poll has confirmed it – in regard to British travellers at least.
Tourists from the UK have voted the New South Wales (NSW) capital as their favourite city, beating places like New York and Paris in the process at the 15th annual Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers Choice Awards.
“Winning this latest award demonstrates Sydney’s continuing appeal to visitors across the UK,” stated NSW tourism minister George Souris.
The city and the sounding state welcomes around 313,600 UK visitors every year, making Brits the third largest group behind Chinese and New Zealand tourists.
It is just the latest gong in a long line of international honours for Sydney, which includes the title of top Australasian city for the 17th time in the recent Travel+Leisure Awards.
