Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero could soon be playing his football in Sydney.
Anyone booking flights to Sydney for a bit of winter sun this year may have the chance to see a footballing icon play in front of a sports mad crowd.
Alessandro Del Piero is reportedly in talks with Sydney FC about playing for the A-League side for the 2012-13 campaign.
The former World Cup winner has been without a club since Juventus released him at the end of last season and is keen to prolong his remarkable career outside of Italy.
Chief executive of the Sydney FC said: “We spoke about football, as well as the Sydney lifestyle and the ability for him to leave a lasting legacy in the game.
“We presented him with what we think is a good package and we should get an answer within 48 hours.”
The A-League begins in September, although Scotland’s Glasgow Celtic are also said to be keen for the 37-year-old’s signature.
