Sydney named in world’s best beaches list

The numerous beaches available in the Sydney area have been highlighted in a list of the world’s best coastal spots.

Sun-worshipping travellers looking to top up their tan this summer have been advised to book flights to Australia, as Sydney has been highlighted as having one of the world’s best beaches.

Travel publisher DK Travel has picked out Bondi beach as one of the top eight in the world, although the dozens of tiny neighbourhood coves in the local area are also recommended for great swimming conditions.

Other top attractions recommended by the publisher include a visit to the Sydney Opera House and a meal out at some of Australia’s finest restaurants, meaning that there’s something to satisfy both sun-baked hedonists and culture vultures.

Rio De Janeiro, Miami, Mombasa, Beirut and Barcelona also made the list as key places where adventurous travellers can enjoy a relaxing sandy stroll or exciting watersports opportunities.

Brits looking to fly from London to Sydney can choose from a range of airlines including Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines.
