Travellers heading on a holiday to South Africa now have a new option when it comes to arranging their travel money, it has been announced.

A new prepaid travel card is now on offer in the form of the Travelex South African Rand Cash Passport.

“Using a pre-paid card is the most secure way to carry money abroad and also allows you to lock in your rate at time of purchase,” explained the currency provider.

Holidaymakers jetting off on a flight to South Africa can load up their prepaid card on the internet before they travel and according to the company, it is a more secure and safe method of carrying money than cash.

Another use that is ideal for the card is for student travel and gap-years as is it discreet and secure – and parents can top it up from home if their children run out of money abroad.

People spending their holiday in South Africa at the end of July may wish to sample one or two of the 500 different varieties of wine that will be on offer at the Stellenbosch Wine Festival taking place in the town hall.
