Sydney’s natural attractions are highly regarded around the world, according to a new study.
According to research commissioned by Tourism Australia, the country’s beaches, coastlines and wildlife experiences are extremely popular with visitors.
Sydney in particular was flagged up as one location that appeals to those who are keen to enjoy this aspect of the country, along with the Gold Coast and North Queensland.
Australia’s food and drink were also highly rated by those who had previously been to the country.
However, Tourism Australia noted that the country’s culinary prowess is not widely known around the world.
This, it said, could open up “significant future international marketing opportunities” that could lead to more people booking flights to Sydney and other key cities.
Andrew McEvoy, managing director of Tourism Australia, said: “Destination marketing is not a one-size-fits-all discipline.
“What this new research helps us to do is fine-tune how we promote Australia in different markets.”
