People flying into Melbourne Airport could soon find the site is boasting a new terminal.
Travellers on flights to Melbourne in the future could be among the first to use the new terminal which is being built at the airport.
The airport has announced plans to expand with the creation of a new Terminal 4 and improve freeway access, in work which is estimated to cost around AU$300 million (£197 million), the Age reported.
It will be constructed to the south of the existing Terminal 3, which is operated by Virgin Australia.
Melbourne Airport’s chief executive Chris Woodruff said discussions around the site will be taking place next year.
”We can’t say which airline or airlines will be using the new terminal, as those discussions are still to be had with the airlines,” Mr Woodruff said.
People heading on flights to Melbourne in the coming days could be among those planning to spend their Christmas Day in the company of koalas, meerkats and kangaroos at Melbourne Zoo.
