Anyone considering holidays to Australia may wish to rethink their plans in order to include a trip to Fraser Island’s Kingfisher Bay, one travel writer has suggested.
David Potts, writing for the Sydney Morning Herald, said that the resort ranks with the Great Barrier Reef as one of nature’s great wonders and is ideal for people looking for eco-holidays.
“We’ve seen lush rainforests and some of the dozens of freshwater lakes of crystal clear water that has filtered through sand for up to 100 years. The Butchulla tribe must have known something when they named the island K’gari, meaning paradise,” he wrote.
Mr Potts added that the resort offers plaenty to do for everyone and that the accommodation caters for all budgets, from backpacker to luxury.
Kingfisher Bay is situated only 45 minutes by air from Brisbane on Fraser Island.
An ideal time to visit is from September to December, which is a popular season for nature, including whales and wildflowers.
