Great Barrier Reef resort Qualia has recently had a visit from Formula 1 racing driver Fernando Alonso.

On the back of his recent appearance in the Melbourne Grand Prix, two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso paid a visit to luxury Australian resort Qualia.

The Spaniard may have reached speeds of over 190 mph on the track, but at the peaceful Great Barrier Reef resort, he was content to amble around at just 12mph in an electric buggy.

Alonso also managed to fit in a few rounds of golf at the nearby Hamilton Island Golf Club before heading off to Kuala Lumpur for the next stage of the Formula 1 world championship.

“The peace and quiet of Hamilton Island was the perfect way for me to wind down before moving on to the next round of intense competition on the international circuit,” he said.

Motorsports fans looking to relax like Alonso can book flights to Australia for a luxury stay at Qualia, which offers exclusive accommodation in the natural surrounds of the Great Barrier Reef.
