Talk of Mauritius and images of those beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise aqua blue waters, and the picturesque coastline immediately spring to mind. Now, move a little to the north and you’ll be welcomed by the popular island town of Grand Baie. Known as De Bogt Zonder Eyndt (Bay without End) by the Dutch in the 17th century, the modern resort town today is among the most popular holiday destinations in Mauritius. While there is a lot to see and do here, we have simply mentioned some of the best beaches you should hit.
La Cuvette Beach
A little gem in the north of Mauritius, La Cuvette beach is excellent for families with small children. Also known as Royal Palm Beach or La Mauricia Beach, the popular site offers visitors beautiful views of the coastline and the nearby surrounding areas. On weekends, the beach serves as a beautiful picnic destination. There is a diving school on the beach, which provides great diving excursions and tours to let you experience the beautiful underwater marine life. Don’t forget to enjoy the sunset views.
The Grand Bay Public Beach
This centrally located beach in Grand Bay is ideal for relaxation, a splash in the sea, or to enjoy a catamaran tour to the nearby destinations. Party enthusiasts can enjoy a beach party at the nearby Banana Beach club. Offering a wide variety of authentic and international cuisines and popular delicacies are some popular beach restaurants and numerous food stalls. Due to constant boat traffic, swimming is pretty limited but there are lots of other adventure sports.
Point Aux Piment Beach
Away from the island’s hustle and bustle, this beach offers a peaceful time under the sun. Prominent resorts and hotels including Le Victoria and Le Meridian are also located near the beach and offer a perfect holiday stay on the island. Although, the sea floor gets a little rocky moving southwards but water sports and other adventurous activities can be perfectly enjoyed by the visitors.
Trou aux Biches
A popular public beach on the northern coast of Mauritius, Trou aux Biches is one of the most stunning beaches. There are numerous bars and restaurants along with several hotels and guesthouses. While here, take your pick from a world of exciting activities such as big fishing game, scuba diving, beach volleyball, and many other relaxing recreational activities on the beach and the nearby areas.
Bain Boeuf
Quite an easy one to locate, Bain Boeuf is a popular beach located in the northern part of the island. This secluded beach is perfect to enjoy a peaceful romantic time with your loved one. The waters here are also very popular for swimming and sailing among other sports. Don’t forget to snap some beautiful pictures of the beach and the surrounding areas on your next holiday.
