In an attempt to inflate its global footprint, SpiceJet, a low-cost Indian airline, is planning to boost its flights network to Sri Lanka from September 20th 2012, says a media report.
British vacationers and other foreign travellers opting for twin centre holidays in India and Sri Lanka will soon have another flight option when it comes to flying between the two popular holiday destinations.
India’s SpiceJet will start operating direct flights connecting South India‘s popular city, Madurai with Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo. The airline will start operating its new route from September 20th 2012, revealed various media report.
India’s popular low-cost airline, SpiceJet already offers cheap flights connecting Chennai and Colombo. The carrier is the first to operate international flights services from the newly inaugurated Madurai Airport.
The new flight will take off from Madurai in South India at 12.30 pm and arrive in Colombo at 1.30 pm.
The new service is surely going to benefit Indian holiday makers as well as foreign tourists in India who seek cheap flights to Sri Lanka, a famed vacation spot.
“We are getting lot of enquiries, mostly from tourists, ever since we started the booking. As an inaugural offer, we are giving tickets for as low as Rs. 2,999 (35 GBP approx.) for limited seats,” Gary Freeman Gary a marketing official for the airline was quoted as saying.
Chennai-based, SpiceJet has an extensive domestic network in India and it also offers international flights to Dubai and Kathmandu. The carrier also has plans to initiate flights to China.
