Anyone with a taste for adventure may want to try their hand at one of the world’s best scuba diving experiences on holidays to South Africa.
Diving with great white sharks in South Africa has been named as one of the ten best scuba diving experiences in the world.
In a list published by the Daily Telegraph, the close encounter with one of the ocean’s apex predators was selected alongside sites located in places such as Australia, New Zealand and Egypt.
Jumping into the water, albeit in a cage, with the sharks could appeal to people who have booked flights to South Africa later this year.
The publication informed that many of the boats leave from the town of Gansbaai, with sightings almost guaranteed.
Other locations to make it into the top ten include the Cocklebiddy Cave in Western Australia, which is only suitable for experienced cave divers, as well as the more accessible Ras Mohammed National Park in Egypt.
People wanting to explore the underwater world from Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada or Dahab will find it easy to book a spot on a boat travelling to this section of the Red Sea.
In addition to the host of brightly coloured marine life, there are also several wrecks in the park’s boundaries, most notably the only container within reach of divers from the wreck of the Yolanda, which is broken open to display its cargo of toilets.
