The Emirates airline has launched a second flight destination in South Africa.
Passengers can now fly to Cape Town for a holiday in South Africa with Emirates carrier Etihad Airways, it has been announced.
Holidaymakers and business travellers can also now catch a flight from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi from September 30th, the airline revealed.
A daily A330 flight to Johannesburg is already in operation by the airline to the Emirate capital, making the Cape Town flight the second destination in South Africa to be served by Etihad.
“The city is South Africa’s premier tourist destination, offering many highlights including the iconic Table Mountain and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned,” explained the company.
James Hogan, chief executive of Etihad Airways, said that the company expected demand for flights to South Africa to “grow immensely” over the next year to coincide with the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
Cape Town was awarded the accolade of Best Destination in Africa by the World Travel Awards 2008.
