The Singapore based carrier, SilkAir operated its first flights to port city of Vizag in India, on 28th October. It is the only airline to provide international air connectivity to this Indian city.
Adding to the options for those international travellers who seek connecting flights from South India to Singapore and vice versa, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir commenced its direct flight between Singapore and Visakhapatnam or Vizag in India on October 28.
“With introduction of the service, which will run thrice a week, SilkAir became the first airline to provide non-stop international air connectivity from Visakhapatnam,” said a senior official.
The flight, MI 448, departed the Changi Airport Terminal 2 early morning and arrived at Visakhapatnam Airport at 5.10pm. Initially, the carrier will operate three flights a week to the city-state.
To mark the launch, the carrier presented a set of souvenirs to the passengers who booked tickets for the first flight out of island-country to the Indian city.
Vizag, a port city on the south-east coast of India, is emerging as a popular tourist attraction and ranks high on the itinerary of foreign vacationers who grab tickets on India bound flights.
It is the eighth Indian destination to be served by the regional airline. Other than this, it also offers cheap flight tickets to destinations like Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
The full service airline is looking forward to provide seamless connectivity and offer vast flight options to business and leisure traveller’s who buy tickets on India bound flights.
