The UK remains one of New Zealand’s biggest tourism markets, new figures have revealed.
According to the New Zealand business ministry, Britain is currently one of the country’s biggest tourism markets.
The nation was also identified as a hugely popular holiday destination with travellers from the US and Japan.
However, official figures show that it is also attracting more and more attention from people in China.
Indeed, the ministry stated the amount spent by Chinese visitors went up by more than a third throughout the year to September 2012.
This coincided with a 37 per cent surge in the number of holidaymakers coming from the Asian nation.
Peter Ellis, tourism research and evaluation manager, commented: “In the last three years, China has overtaken Japan, the United States and now the UK tourist markets to become our second largest tourism market.”
He added this is likely to have major implications for the New Zealand holiday industry.
