Authorities in India have chosen a design company to draw up ideas for a new monument that will lie off its coastline and wow visitors on holidays to Mumbai.
Plans for the figure, which has attracted comparisons with New York’s Statue of Liberty, will be drawn up by Bangkok-based company Bensley Design Studios and Team One, it has been announced.
The figure will be a tribute to a 17th-century warrior and will tower over the Mubai skyline at a height of 321 feet. It will be situated on a plinth in the Arabian Sea on a specially-made island.
It will be a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji – a figure much venerated in Maratha culture and could provide an interesting stop-off for those on holidays to Mumbai.
In related news, those hoping to buy cheap flights to Thailand from Mumbai may have their options expanded in the future, as Jet Airways announced plans to increase the number of journeys between the areas earlier this month.
