Travellers looking to book a flight to Goa or Amritsar may be able to benefit from a new service that will be launched by Qatar Airways ahead of the winter season and Diwali in October.

“Passengers flying on Qatar Airways from Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East will have excellent connections to the late evening departures from Doha to both Goa and Amritsar,” stated the airline.

Routes to both Goa and Amritsar will depart direct four times each week from the capital of Qatar, Doha.

Flights to Goa – an “idyllic beach destination” popular with European holidaymakers – will begin on October 25th.

Amritsar – a city in the north of India – will see flights begin on October 11th ahead of the religious festival of lights, Diwali.

When fully up and running, Qatar will be operating 64 flights to India per week as it currently offers flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Kozhikode, Cochin, Trivandrum, Hyderabad and Ahmadabad.

Diwali is a five-day festival and is one of the biggest in the Hindu calendar. Divas – candles – are usually lit and there are often celebrations with fireworks, said Diwalifestival.org.
