A group of islands off the coast of India are among the best secret islands in the world, according to one publication.

People who have booked flights to India and who intend to go in search of an island paradise should be able to find exactly what they are looking for in the country, one travel magazine has stated.

Travel + Leisure compiled a list of the 30 best secret islands in the world, which included the Lakshadweep Islands in India.

According to the publication, visitors will find white sand beaches surrounded by blue lagoons where they can relax.

It recommended taking a boat trip to Tinnakara Island in the evening because “phosphorescent plankton bathes the shore in a bluish glow”.

Another island to make it in to the top 30 was Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia.

This destination is accessible to people who arrive on flights to Perth and the magazine described it as a “sun-drenched reserve”.
