Gulf Air will restart its direct services from Bahrain to Kerala from 15th December 2013. The move will contribute to enhanced connectivity and added options for fliers seeking tickets aboard flights running between the destinations.

Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has recently announced the resumption of its direct flights bound for Trivandrum International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala. The carrier had suspended the service in 2010 due to low profitability of the route. The flag carrier is all set to restart the same route on 15th December 2013 and will offer tickets for 5 weekly flights, revealed various online sources.

“Our decision to resume flights to Thiruvananthapuram emphasizes the importance we attach to India, one of our key markets, and our business strategy to concentrate on high-demand point-to-point routes to ensure our core customer base is served effectively and efficiently,” said the Gulf Air’s acting CEO.

He also said that the carrier is delighted to recommence its operations to Thiruvananthapuram in India. It is believed that these resumed flights will receive positive response from Indians living and working in Bahrain and the environing GCC countries. In addition, it is going to prove beneficial for all those business travellers who remain on constant quest for tickets on direct flights on the route.

The airline started flight services to India in 1960. The carrier offers tickets to fly to India’s four major cities namely Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. Thiruvananthapuram is the fifth destination in India to be added to the operator’s current network. The move will increase the airline’s capacity to India by 10 per cent from 45 to 50 weekly flights.

The operator is known as one of the largest network operator in the Middle East. It remains one of the most-sought after airlines for buying tickets on flights connecting India to several key destinations in the Middle East and Europe with seamless connectivity via its efficient hub in Bahrain.

According to the schedule, the flight GF0062 will depart Bahrain on Mondays and Wednesdays at 13:30 (local time) and arrive in Kerala at 20:35 (local time), while the return flight GF0063 will leave Thiruvananthapuram, India at 21:20 and arrive in the Bahrain at 23:45.

On Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays the flight GF0060 will depart the island country at 02:45 and arrive in Thiruvananthapuram, India at 09:50, while on return, GF0061 will leave Kerala’s capital city in South India at 10:45 and arrive in Bahrain at 13:10 (local time).
