Etihad has started a new flight service between Abu Dhabi and Kolkata, India. The new daily service marks the airline’s 11th connection in India. A 136-seat, two-class Airbus A320 aircraft is being used for the new flight.
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways recently launched daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Kolkata, eastern India’s busiest aviation hub. This is Etihad Airways 11th connection in India of its own; in alliance with Indian carrier, Jet Airways, the Gulf carrier serves 15 destinations in India.
Flight EY256 will take off from Abu Dhabi International Airport at 11:10 and will land at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata at 17:20. The return flight EY255 will leave Kolkata at 18:20 and land in Abu Dhabi at 22:30. All times are local.
“We’re delighted to add Kolkata, an economic powerhouse and Etihad Airways’ first destination in North Eastern India, to our flight network,” said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer.
“This new service will support the growing demand from air travellers who are keen to fly between West Bengal and the Middle East, Europe and North America via our Abu Dhabi home base.”
Kolkata is India’s key financial hub of the East and remains a major tourist destination of the country. The authorities in India believe that the new flight service between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi is going to offer a fine choice to travellers seeking connection on the route.

“The service will help to connect passengers from Kolkata to destinations across the Middle East and the rest of the world.”
The aircraft plied on the route is a two cabin A320 that is going to have the capacity to carry 136 passengers – 16 in Business Class and 120 in Economy Class.
The flight service is further going to prove beneficial to travellers seeking onward journey to North American and European destinations, which are a part of Etihad Airways’ network.
