The editor of diving magazine BLUE believes that the Red Sea is a key destination for divers.Charlotte Boan also represents the Chamber of Diving and Watersports (CDWS) – a body created by Egypt’s ministry of tourism to help improve the country’s international appeal within the diving sector.

“Even Cousteau himself said the Red Sea is the ‘corridor of marvels’. There is something for everyone – from beginners to experienced divers, from technical divers to freedivers – it’s the place that everybody comes to,” said Ms Boan.

She added that the variety of underwater scenery, such as wrecks and reefs, also makes it ideal for those divers taking trips to Egypt.

The editor also explained that the cost of diving in the Red Sea can be attractive to those on a restricted budget, with it costing the same to go diving for a week in Egypt as it is to spend a weekend diving in the UK.
