A scheme for local artists is set to be given a second instalment in Dubai following its success.
Travellers on flights to Dubai who appreciate art will be able to see the works produced as part of an artist in residence programme after it was re-commissioned.
The second artist in residence scheme will being on January 8th 2012 and run until April 7th and will see three international artists working alongside three designers from the emirate, AMEinfo.com reported.
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority announced that the scheme will be going ahead again, with the aim that it will help to encourage greater dialogue between those based in Dubai and overseas.
It is also hoped it will help to establish the emirate as a hub for art in the Middle East.
Salem Belyouha, projects and events manager with the authority, said: “Dubai has made significant strides in culture and arts, underscoring its position as a truly global artistic destination.”
The programme could help to further boost the number of people on flights to Dubai, after its international airport reported a 6.2 per cent year-on-year rise in passenger numbers in September.
