Dubai Airport has once again seen an increase in passenger numbers during September.
People on flights to Dubai may be helping the emirate’s international airport to see record numbers of visitors as it reported a rise in passengers.
Dubai International’s monthly traffic report for September showed that year-on-year to last month, there had been an increase of 6.2 per cent in the number of visitors.
In total, 4,236,587 people travelled through the airport during the month.
Year to date there has also been a rise in passenger numbers, with the 37,547,744 who have visited so far in 2011 representing a 7.8 per cent increase on the same timeframe the previous year.
“We have had a good year so far in terms of passenger traffic and with the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj just a few days away, we expect to see already robust passenger numbers surge,” said Dubai Airports chief executive officer Paul Griffiths.
One person who has helped to boost the numbers by taking flights to Dubai is Coleen Rooney, who recently spent time in the emirate with her parents, brothers and her toddler son Kai.
