Travellers booking flights to Perth may be interested to know that the south-west region of Western Australia has been named one of the top ten regions in the world.
Holidaymakers who are booking flights to Perth may want to explore the area surrounding the city.
Western Australia’s south-west region featured in a list of the top ten regions in the world compiled by Lonely Planet.
The guide named this corner of the country in its Best in Travel publication for 2010, describing it as having “variety in spades”.
Activities highlighted by the publication for visitors to try include canoeing under the forest canopy in Nannup and walking on the Bibbulmun track at sunrise.
Commenting on the accolade, Australia’s south-west chief executive Sascha Papalia, said: “It’s excellent that Lonely Planet has recognised the whole of the south west region as significant – from Harvey to Albany and from Bunbury to Margaret River.”
Australia is not the only country to recently receive recognition from the guide book – South Africa, Thailand and India all featured in a list of the ten best value holiday destinations for the coming year.
