Travellers booking flights to Sydney may want to travel up the east coast of Australia and visit an award-winning hotel near Fraser Island.
Peppers Pier Resort at Hervey Bay has received two awards in the Fraser Coast South Burnett 2009 Tourism Awards for Excellence.
The hotel won in the General Accommodation four to five-star and the Conference and Meeting Services categories.
It was the third consecutive year that the resort has won the award for Conference and Meeting Services, meaning that it will now be included in the award’s hall of fame.
Commenting on the accolades, Bob East, chief executive officer of the Mantra Group, said: “The wins were made possible because of the resort’s team of dedicated and experienced staff who are highly committed to excellence in customer service.”
Peppers Pier Resort is located on the waterfront opposite Urangan Beach, offering guests a range of luxury, self-contained one, two and three bedroom suites.
Other winners at the awards include the World’s Greatest Pub Crawl – conducted by the Fraser Coast Regional Council in the Regional Festivals and Special Events category and The Port Residence which picked up the gong for best restaurant.
