Passengers on Virgin Atlantic flights to Sydney and other destinations may be able to benefit from promotional discounts thanks to a new campaign launched this week.

The airline will be 25 years old in June and said that in the run up to the milestone, it will help customers to beat the economic downturn by lowering fares and giving other benefits to the passengers using its services.

“You can count on Virgin Atlantic to raise spirits with some of our lowest fares ever and look into the future with optimism as we did 25 years ago,” said Steve Ridgway, chief executive of the airline.

The celebration will be accompanied by a series of television adverts featuring settings and memorabilia from the 1980s.

Virgin Atlantic offers flights to a number of long-haul destinations, including Australia and South Africa.

It currently serves 30 destinations worldwide and has a fleet of 38 aircraft.
