Sydney is so rock and roll, says Spandau Ballet guitarist Gary Kemp.

Travellers booking flights to Sydney may find that they have something in common with a British rock star.

Gary Kemp – the guitarist from 80s new romantic outfit Spandau Ballet – told the Telegraph that he thinks Sydney is “one of the most beautiful cities in the world”.

The musician also revealed that his favourite-ever hotel, the Sebel Townhouse, used to be located in Sydney, but has now been converted into luxury apartments.

“Everyone in British entertainment stayed there: from Led Zeppelin through to Max Bygraves […] it had a history to it that we loved,” he added.

Discussing travel pet hates with the newspaper, Mr Kemp also said that just before leaving for his holidays, he is filled with fear and gets the urge to stay put, but ends up coming to his senses once he arrives at the destination.

Spandau Ballet – whose other members include Martin Kemp and Tony Hadley – announced that they are reforming this year and are set to tour the UK and Ireland in October.
