Taking cheap flights to Australia could help keep the cost of a break down under low and make jetting off to sunnier climes much more affordable.

Those planning on heading off on holiday this year are being encouraged to save up for a break rather than rely on credit to fund a getaway. The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) said that people should make efforts to “save, don’t borrow” when planning a break. Finding cheap flights to Australia or other destinations is a great way to cut back on the cost of a holiday and make an otherwise expensive getaway affordable.

Una Farrell, media relations officer at the CCCS, said: “Having a holiday is an important way to deal with the stresses of everyday life, so it shouldn’t be something that adds to those stresses by leaving you with a debt problem.”

Her comments followed findings from insolvency trade body R3 which suggested that more than 2.3 million holidaymakers have had to borrow cash to finance a break, with the average amount borrowed some £1,130.

By taking cheap flights to Australia, holidaymakers can help ensure they have more cash at hand to spend on activities and accommodation, to make a break extra special.
