Qatar Airways has launched a new fast-track route between London and Melbourne.
A new fast route between London and Melbourne via Doha was launched earlier this week.
The maiden flight of Qatar Airways’ latest service took place on December 6th, signalling the first of the carrier’s routes into Australia.
Lasting 21 hours and 40 minutes, including a transfer in Doha, the airline is offering one of the quickest journeys from Melbourne to the UK.
Qatar Airways has now launched four new routes in 2009, servicing 85 destinations.
Al Baker, chief executive officer at the airline, said: “[This] marks an historic moment as we extend our five-star hospitality to yet another continent in our global network.”
Sydney is next on the list for the carrier, with scheduled flights to the city expected to begin next year.
Destinations added to Qatar Airways’ network earlier this year include Amritsar and Goa in India. The first of the airline’s flights to Amritsar touched down on October 12th, while the service to Goa began two weeks later.
