Melbourne has topped the list of the best places in the world to live.
People on flights to Melbourne could well find that they are planning to stay there for more than just a holiday after the city was named the most liveable city in the world.
A study in different cities carried out by Economist Intelligence Unit found that the Australian location scored well in categories ranging from stability to healthcare and infrastructure.
Editor of the Global Liveability Survey Jon Copestake said two aspects which make it an attractive place to live include the low population density and relatively small crime rate.
“Despite the rising cost of living driven by the strong Australian dollar, these cities offer a range of factors to make them highly attractive,” Mr Copestake added.
It is not the first time that the city has performed well in the study, as it was ranked joint first with Vancouver in 2002.
Another aspect which could appeal to some taking flights to Melbourne is the weather, with it recently being reported that spring was arriving early along the coast of south Australia.
