People planning holidays to Australia may be interested to know that the Northern Territory has been picked as the best destination in the country by a new survey.
Travellers across Australia have voted the Northern Territory as the top place to visit in the country, describing it as “the most unique, adventurous, spiritual, inspirational and life-changing holiday destination”.
The research was commissioned by Tourism NT and carried out by Roy Morgan Campaign Tracking.
Respondents were asked about each Australian State and Territory in terms of powerful emotional drivers associated with different locations.
It was the Northern Territory that came out on top in terms of providing the best cultural and life-altering breaks.
Operators in the region were praised by Tourism NT for offering such intrepid and exciting experiences to visitors.
Rita Harding, general manager of marketing and communications for the organisation, described the ranking as “a compelling and powerful endorsement of our spectacular natural and cultural landscapes”.
Activities on offer to travellers in the area include trekking trips through the outback, allowing visitors to take in some of the spectacular scenery in Australia’s Red Centre, including Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
The Northern Territory also boasts a number of cultural centres and art galleries which showcase the region’s aboriginal heritage.
