Abu Dhabi Festival 2016 (3rd– 30th April, 2016)
One of the most important celebrations of culture and art in UAE, Abu Dhabi Festival attracts some of the most leading artists every year. The festival is listed as the largest cultural event in the Arabian Gulf and has partnered with some of the most significant cultural institutions such as Carnegie Hall, Manchester International Festival, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera House. Held at the Emirates Palace, the festival is also organising various community and educational programmes that aim at bringing together various cultural organisations, community groups, students and artists, from across the nation.
Emirati Expressions: Conventions of Arts
The 4th edition of Emirati Expressions present artworks by 15 Emirati artists, along with an entertaining programme comprising of publications, workshops and talks. Being a biannual convention, Emirati Expressions features an array of various cultural and artistic expressions by talented and renowned Emirati Artists. This time around, the festival’s main focus would be on the usability and functionality of art. The convention also focuses on the community and cultural aspects of the historic nuclei within Abu Dhabi. There will be a number of different art forms such as paintings, large-scale sculptures, furniture design, photography, interactive video installations, wearable textiles, and illustrations, including a live studio for the artists to work during the exhibition.
Qasr Al Hosn Festival 2016
Qasr Al Hosn festival is a famous festival that is celebrated in honour of the founders of UAE and their sterling leadership. Qasr Al Hosn is Emirate’s symbolic place of birth and also home to the Al Nahyan family; the current rulers of Abu Dhabi. The 4th anniversary of the festival will celebrate the Fort’s progressing conservation and restores the site as Abu Dhabi’s cultural heart.
