Party into 2009 with holidays to Johannesburg

Johannesburg is to host an extravagant New Year’s Eve party that is sure to allow holidaymakers to see in the coming months with a bang.The Joburg Carnival looks set to be a festival of colour and creativity to rival that seen at the Rio Carnival, with parties, costumes and performances going well into the night.Some 30,000 revellers are expected to flock to the city for the celebrations, now in their fourth year.

“It’s always a joyous and uplifting experience that symbolises the melting pot of cultures making up this edgy, world-class African city,” said Steven Sack, director of arts, culture and heritage.

The party will go on until around 02:00 local time and a beer tent will be present, although attendees are not permitted to bring their own.

Anyone interested in booking flights to South Africa could opt to fly with Virgin Atlantic, which offers services to a number of destinations, including Cape Town and Johannesburg.
