ODI Cricketer of the Year Virat Kolhi is set to meet this winter.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, India’s Virat Kohli has been named as the best international one-day cricketer of the past year.

The Delhi-born batsman picked up the ICC award beating his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga in the process.

In the past year, Kohli has scored 1,733 runs in 31 ODIs – hitting eight centuries.

On collecting his award, he said: “I think I have tried to keep things as simple as possible and it’s worked for me on the field. This year has been a learning curve along the way from the seniors in the team.”

Once Kohli and his teammates finish in Sri Lanka they will head back to India to take on England.

The two teams begin the first Test at Ahmadabad on November 15th. They will play three further five-day matches at Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur.

Kolhi will be looking to keep his impressive one-day record going when the shorter matches start on December 5th in Pune.
