Travel will not cease in the coming months and years because of the credit crunch, one expert has opined.
Speaking at the recent UKinbound conference held in Manchester, delegate Barbara Cassani said that people will not change their mindset when it comes to holidays, even if money is tight.
“In Western Europe, a holiday is a right, it is not something that is discretionary. Do people want to go away? I think the answer will be yes,” she remarked.
A recent study carried out by VisitBritain discovered that many people look forward to holidays as a valuable way of busting the stress associated with work and everyday life.
Meanwhile, Travelzoo research found that 95 per cent of people aim to go on holiday at least once before June, spending an average of £478 each.
They were more likely to want to give up other luxuries such as clothing than they were to abandon their travel plans.
