Tiger Airways has confirmed that it will offer new flights to Queensland from March 2011.

The airline believes the direct daily flights from Sydney will prove popular with tourists heading to the Sunshine Coast. Fares for the new service are also to be offered at a special introductory rate for flights between March 27th and October 29th.

Crawford Rix, Tiger Airways Australian managing director, said: “Today’s announcement symbolises a great offer for Sydney-siders keens for a sunshine getaway and in return Tiger Airways hopes that the Sunshine Coast community will reap the benefits of increased tourism visiting their back yard.”

He added that the new service will also allow for more cheap flights to Sydney for those in Queensland.

In addition, the airline confirmed it will launched new flights to Brisbane from Sydney, starting on February 7th.

Tiger Airways currently fly to a number of destinations in India, Australia, Singapore and Thailand.
