Chennai is to open a new domestic terminal at its international airport.
A new domestic terminal is to open in Chennai airport, which will allow more flights to depart and land in the city from across India.
The new terminal is opening in July, with plans to have expansion works on the international department completed by August.
Trial flights for the terminal have already started, with 128 passengers from Mumbai arriving in the city earlier this week.
Further trial flights will take place to and from the airport each day for the next ten days, as staff and visitors alike learn about the different features of the terminal.
When it is fully open by mid-June, the terminal will accommodate 52-check in counters and see 3,300 passengers pass through each hour, up from the 2,200 that the existing terminal can deal with.
Some travellers arriving in Chennai could decide that, like Bollywood actress Bruna Abdullah, they have found their ideal place to live in the city and make the move there permanently.
