People put off by the cost of getting married in the UK could consider a wedding abroad in order to save money and experience a new country at the same time.

This is according to Peter Staddon, spokesperson for the British Insurance Brokers’ Association, who said that this is a growing trend thanks to celebrity endorsements and the unreliable British climate.

“Many couples feel they are being taken for a ride in the UK and also that they cannot guarantee good British weather.

“What with low cost airlines offering great deals for superb locations, there is an increase in overseas weddings,” he remarked.

According to Easier.com, some 57 per cent of people would consider holding their nuptials abroad, perhaps because this option can be up to six times cheaper.

Anyone looking for a destination in which to get married could book flights to South Africa.

Couples can choose from big game safaris, rustic mountain huts, world heritage sites, national parks, eco-tourism retreats and beaches for the ceremony and the honeymoon.
