Abu Dhabi experiencing 17.9% visitor surge
Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates is now one of the world’s fastest growing destination cities.
According to the latest MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index, the city whose name means ‘Father of Deer’ in Arabic will experience a 17.9 per cent surge in visitor numbers this year.
This places the coastal location fourth on the worldwide list, behind only Quito, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.
Tourists are attracted to the emirate by not only the blistering temperatures and low rainfall but also a wealth of attractions ranging from theme parks to wildlife parks.
There is a chance for adrenalin junkies to tackle the world’s fastest roller-coaster at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi or try their hand at sandskiing on the planet’s largest dunes.
For those who enjoy a more sedate vacation there is the serene white stone Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to explore and the chance to get face-to-face with the 10,000 animals roaming free in the rugged terrain of the Arabian Wildlife Park.
